Public Speaking is here to stay – even in an unpredictable world.

The world is more unpredictable than ever. But public speaking is here to stay.

Here’s why it’s still relevant for you.

Yesterday, I worked as the MC of the Business Builders by HRmaster stage at the HR Fest Székesfehervar edition. One of the key messages I heard in multiple presentations was that the business environment has never been as unpredictable as it is today. I think most of you felt this during the past years.

A consequence is that planning becomes significantly more challenging and, in some cases, nearly impossible. While you may have a plan, if at one point something disruptive happens, you will have to replan.

Covid – replan.
Sky-high inflation – replan.
Geopolitical turmoil – replan.

Heraclitus, the pre-Socratic philosopher, was right.

The only constant in life is change.

Perhaps more than ever.

Then why do I think communication- and public speaking skills are here to stay? At least for a bit longer? 😊

Because however you change your business, you will have to communicate it, and you will have to make sure your audience understands what you do, how you do it, and why you are the right choice.

Practicing public speaking helps you with just that:

✔️ Getting in the habit of thinking about your audience.
✔️ Focusing on your message.
✔️ Creating crystal clear calls to action.

GenAI may help you with structure. It may give you ideas. It may help you prepare. But at this stage, it won’t generate personal stories and it won’t be your unique self. You need all this if you want to connect to others.

Conclusion: however unpredictable the business environment, it remains essential to communicate what you do, how you do it, and why.

Embrace the new reality, embrace change, and find solace in life’s constants. For example, public speaking skills. 😊
